Use Your Bodyweight to Build Triceps

If you don’t have access to a gym but still want to add muscle to your arms you can very effectively use your bodyweight to build triceps. Using your bodyweight to build muscle is one of the first ways bodybuilders used to workout before gyms and weight lifting equipment became widespread. You can use your bodyweight to build triceps with just 2 chairs or even using just the floor. Although it’s ideal to use weight lifting equipment to build your muscles there may be times when there are no gyms around.

One of the best ways to build your triceps in or out of the gym is by using your bodyweight to perform dips. You can perform dips for your triceps on the dip bar in the gym but if no gym is available you can simply put 2 chairs or a table and a chair enough apart to allow your body to move up and down between the chairs. With your arms straight and holding onto the edge of the chair or table with your glutes in between your hands and on the edge of the seat and with your legs resting on another chair a few feet away, lower your body slowly until your glutes almost touch the floor. Your arms will be bent as far as they can at this point and then press your body upwards for an intense burn in the triceps. Using your bodyweight may even be more weight than you can handle so you may even need to simply rest your feet on the floor. By raising your feet and placing them on another chair it increases the resistance on the triceps. Keeping your feet on the floor will make the tricep dip movement easier to perform.

Another way to use your bodyweight to build triceps is by putting the high back rests of 2 chairs together with about a 2 feet gap in between. Hold onto the backs of each chair and bend your legs to allow you to lower your body and perform the triceps dip exercise. Two tables close together would also work to perform the triceps dip between.

The standard push up on the floor is also another way to use your bodyweight to build triceps and also your chest. There should never be a reason why you can’t workout your triceps or any other part of your body even when you have no access to a gym if you use your imagination. Building muscles using only your bodyweight also breaks the monotony of doing the same old routines and forces you to come up with new ideas to workout.
