Rest and Get Big Arms
One of the most overlooked areas in bodybuilding and the quest to get big arms is the importance of rest. Without adequate rest you will never get big arms. While you are in the gym training your arms you are effectively stimulating them to grow in the near future. You never do any growing while you are in the gym, training only ever stimulates the grow that comes later if and only if you get enough of the proper nutrition for muscle grow in the form of protein and good quality complex carbohydrates and just as importantly adequate rest. Not enough rest means not enough growth, so if you want to grow as quickly as possible you need to allow for some serious down time every day.
When you think about bodybuilding or weight training you usually imagine working out in the gym, sweating, pushing the big weights, getting an insane pump in your muscles and training to the point of exhaustion where you might even collapse or throw up during a gut busting, hardcore training session. All the things I just mentioned are definitely necessary to build huge arms and a muscular physique but what many people overlook or are simply unaware of is just how important resting is.
It is only when your body and mind are resting that your muscles will begin to grow. I say your mind as well as your body because you cannot separate the mind and body as they are always linked. The body always follows the mind. If you are under stress you will not grow to your full potential after your intense weight training sessions in the same way you will not grow if you don’t eat enough protein. We all know that if you don’t eat enough quality food you will not supply your body with the fuel it needs to grow new muscle or even maintain the muscle you already have. Resting is just another essential part of the growth cycle and without adequate rest there really isn’t any reason to be busting your gut in the gym in the first place.
In regards to training for big arms development it is essential to blast your biceps, triceps and forearms hard on a weekly basis but that’s enough. You will get plenty of secondary growth in your biceps from your back training and you will also stimulate secondary growth in your triceps from your chest and shoulder training. So for maximum big arm growth, stick to training your arms specifically just one time per week. Your arms are a relatively small bodypart compared to your chest, back and legs so they don’t need as many sets or to be trained anymore than once a week at the beginner or intermediate level. Even many of the world’s top professional bodybuilders only train their arms once time per week.
The best bodybuilders are the ones who can structure their lives in such a way that they can incorporate the 3 pillars of successful muscle growth. They are as I have mentioned, training, eating and resting. If you can get this mix right you are on your way to some serious growth so as long as you consistently train hard, eat 5-6 good quality high protein meals a day and get a solid 8 hours or so sleep every night. By doing this you will not only add some new muscle on your arms but push your entire physique to a new level of muscularity as well.
