Arnold Arm Training

Arnold’s arm training involved a mixture of heavy weights with lower reps as well as lighter weights with higher reps although the most significant thing about Arnold’s arm training was his high intensity level. If you want big arms like Arnold you will ultimately have to put in the hard work like he did but as you know the result of Arnold arm training is well worth the effort. Arnold had one of the biggest and most impressive set of arms anyone has ever seen in the world of professional bodybuilding.

The same discipline Arnold has put into every area of his life is exactly what he put into his big arm training routines. Arnold’s arm training was all about using the weights properly and with good form. Back when Arnold was training for the Mr. Olympia in the 1970’s he didn’t have a lot of the fancy equipment we have in gyms today so he had to rely on sticking to the basics which just goes to show that with only dumbbells, barbells and a few different machines you still can get enormously huge arms.

Arnold arm training was about pushing his arms to the limit of complete muscular failure. Arnold didn’t just have massive arms after years of hard training he developed his monstrous arms soon after he began bodybuilding and continued to make them bigger and sculpt them into the most well known set of arms on the planet.

Early on in Arnold’s bodybuilding career he trained hard for many years without taking many breaks from training but after he had gained most of his muscle mass he would take a lengthy break after each Mr. Olympia competition to give his body a chance to rest and recuperate. To follow Arnold’s arm training requires consistent training for months at a time but also taking a break every now and then to allow the body time to rest and then allow it to grow even bigger after a regular break.

Following Arnold’s arm routine requires you to train both the biceps and triceps twice per week with a mix of heavy and medium heavy weights. Consistency was everything when Arnold trained arms in the same way he trained all his other bodyparts. Stick to the basics when training your arms the Arnold way by doing 3-4 sets of heavy barbell curls, followed by the same amount of sets of dumbbell curls, concentration curls and preacher curls.

Arnold was known to do a significant amount of sets when training arms. Some bodybuilders today follow Arnold’s arm training routine by performing numerous amounts of sets although others do far less and still get effective arm growth while always keeping the intensity high. You will need to experiment to see what works for you.

The other very important aspect of the Arnold arm training program was to train the triceps with equal intensity and consistency. Arnold once again would stick to the basics when doing his triceps training by incorporating the big muscle building triceps exercises. Arnold would do lying triceps extensions, dumbbell kickbacks, tricep pushdowns, close grip bench press and weighed dips for his triceps among other exercises and mix in 3-4 different exercises when ever he trained his triceps. Arnold was an instinctive trainer and never had a set training routine, he would constantly mix up his exercises to keep his body guessing and this lead to an incredible amount of muscle growth.

If you want Arnold’s peaky biceps you will need to be blessed with his incredible genetics on one level although you can follow the Arnold arm training routine and fulfill your own arm growth potential and who knows you may even end up with your own sets of massive arms. If you don’t train them they will never grow, if you consistently train them hard how big they grow is entirely up to you.
